Applications will be assessed based on the criteria outlined below. Once selected you will be supported by the social impact fundraising experts at StartSomeGood to get you ready to both give a great pitch and to run a great crowdfunding campaign.

What Kind of Parramatta Do You Want to Create?

Successful applicants will be trained in crowdfunding and pitching by StartSomeGood. You will be
given expert guidance on how to create and deliver a pitch – learn effective tools for telling your
organisation’s story and pitching your project idea to engage and inspire the audience. You will also
be given individual help to design a great crowdfunding campaign.

The Pitch for Good Parramatta event will be the launch of your crowdfunding campaign and a huge
fundraising opportunity in its own right. All ticket sales are allocated to the enterprises pitching on
the night, then matched by the City of Parramatta.

Funds raised at the Pitch for Good Parramatta event will be pledged towards your crowdfunding
campaign on StartSomeGood, giving you incredible early momentum and a great chance to leverage
your funds already raised, helping you reach your fundraising goals and make a bigger difference.

How does this work?

This is a chance to use social enterprise to help create a more sustainable future of our community.

1) Project must demonstrate how it will create positive social change for residents, other people (visitors, workers) and/or organisations/groups within the City of Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA - see map below);

2) Project must be a social enterprise initiative, ie. it must have an element of trade

3) Applicant must be committed, if successful, to either establishing the social enterprise in the City of Parramatta LGA or running a program/project in the City of Parramatta LGA, with a view to undertaking further activities in the Parramatta area into the future;

4) Projects must have a core focus on improving environmental and social outcomes

5) Applicants must be committed to sharing the learnings and outcomes of their project with Council

6) Willing and able to pitch at Pitch for Good Parramatta on July 14 and run a crowdfunding campaign from July-August

General Eligibility:
Assessment Criteria:

1) The extent to which the project demonstrates how it will create position social/environmental/cultural impact within the City of Parramatta Local Government Area

2) Pitch can be related to a new/startup social enterprise or an established social enterprise that is running a program that has not been run in the Parramatta LGA before. (*Applications will be considered in relation to the running of a pilot for a new social enterprise, but only where evidence is provided of investment commitments which will enable the establishment of the social enterprise depending on the success of the pilot);

3) Demonstrate a clear understanding of social enterprise business models;

4) Evidence that the social enterprise, proposal or pilot is ready to be established if successful in your crowdfunding campaign, including evidence of engagement with relevant individuals or groups within the LGA needed to support the project;

5) The viability and attractiveness of initial ideas for the crowdfunding campaign and evidence of commitment to running a strong crowdfunding campaign, including details of networks that will be targeted to contribute;

6) Demonstrates a diversity of future revenue generation and realistic extent and expectation of crowdfunding;

7) Evidence of need or strengths-based opportunity

8) Achievability of the project objectives;

9) Extent to which the target group has been engaged in the project development.

What Kind of Parramatta Do You Want to Create?

This is a chance to help create a more vibrant, sustainable and connected Parramatta.

Criteria (What We're Looking For)

1) The project must demonstrate how it will create positive social change for residents, other people
(visitors, workers) and/or organisations and groups within the City of Parramatta Local Government
Area (LGA - see below for a map – it’s a much bigger area than just the Parramatta Business District);

2) Project can take any form – a one-off community event, an upgrade or investment into an existing
facility, a new initiative from a community organisation, the launch of a social enterprise or non-profit, a behaviour change initiative or anything that you think would create social or environmental
outcomes in Parramatta. 

3) Project must be to do something specific and well-defined – ie. it is to launch a new project, or
bring something new to Parramatta, to grow an existing project in a new way. The program is not for
general fundraising for your organisation. It is not to support Business as Usual. 

4) Applicants must be committed, if successful, to running your initiative in the City of Parramatta
LGA, with a view to undertaking further activities in the Parramatta area into the future;

5) Projects must have a core focus on improving social or environmental outcomes; 

6) Crowdfunding targets must be for projects valued between $5,000 and $15,000 and the project must be able to be delivered if those funds are raised;

7) Applicants must be committed to sharing the learnings and outcomes of their project with
StartSomeGood and the City of Parramatta; 

8) You must be willing and able to attend (and pitch at!) Pitch for Good Parramatta and run a
vigorous crowdfunding campaign.

After a three-year COVID-induced break Pitch for Good Parramatta is back!

Since 2016 Pitch for Good Parramatta has supported new social enterprises to establish in the Parramatta area. If you have an idea for a social enterprise that will do good in the City of Parramatta and need an extra funding boost to get the project off the ground or help it grow, this is for you.

Pitch for Good combines the best of on- and offline fundraising, with a live pitch event helping you launch a crowdfunding campaign, with funds raised on the night matched by our partners to get you off to a great start.

Over four previous Pitch for Good events we have featured great social enterprises including Catalysr, The Reconnect Project, Parramatta Clay Arts and Welcome Walls. Will your social enterprise be next?

You will receive expert training in how to pitch your enterprise, a masterclass in crowdfunding and a unique fundraising opportunity.

Since 2016 Pitch for Good Parramatta has supported community initiatives to launch and grow in the Parramatta area. We do this by helping you develop your concept, story and pitch, and supporting you to raise the funds you need to make it happen through a live fundraising event supporting online crowdfunding campaigns.

The whole program is FREE and designed to help you rally the resources you need to do more good. 

The live Pitch for Good Parramatta event brings the community together to celebrate local organisations and changemakers and help them make their project ideas happen. All ticket revenue from the event is allocated by the audience to their favourite projects, then matched by the City of Parramatta, then added to your crowdfunding campaign to get your fundraising off to a great start.

If you have an idea that will do good in the City of Parramatta and needs an extra funding boost to get the project off the ground or to take your next step to grow your impact, this opportunity is for you!

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

The whole program is FREE and designed to help you rally the resources you need to do more good. If successful, what is your time commitment?

  • Crowdfunding Masterclass - 3 hours (in-person session) 
  • Pitch training and mentoring - 3 hours (in-person session) 
  • 6-10+ hours developing your crowdfunding page (self-directed, with one-to-one online support from StartSomeGood) 
  • Weekly online progress check-in and support (1 hour x 6 weeks) 
  • Attendance at the Pitch for Good Parramatta event 6pm-9pm Thursday 5th September 2024 
  • Active promotion of your crowdfunding campaign (Self-directed; as much time as you like over 4 weeks)

1) The extent to which the project demonstrates how it will create social/environmental/cultural
impact within the City of Parramatta Local Government Area;

2) Demonstrate commitment and credibility in your area of focus;

3) Evidence that your project is ready to go if successful in your crowdfunding campaign, including evidence of engagement with relevant individuals or groups within the LGA needed to support the project (put differently, you must have what you need to go forward if funding is provided, such as permission where required); 

4) The viability and attractiveness of initial ideas for the crowdfunding campaign and evidence of
commitment to running a strong crowdfunding campaign, including details of networks that will be
targeted to contribute;

5) Evidence of need or strengths-based opportunity

6) Achievability of the project objectives;

7) The extent to which the target group has been engaged in the project development.

If you need to raise between $5,000 and $15,000 for a project, whether it is launching a brand new program, growing or expanding an existing project or looking to establish a presence in Parramatta, the Pitch for Good Parramatta program can help raise funds and raise awareness of your organisation and the amazing work you do.

If selected, you will receive expert training in how to pitch your idea, a masterclass in crowdfunding and support to develop your crowdfunding campaign from the experts at StartSomeGood. These are skills that you can use again and again to further support your organisation into the future.

Selected projects also have a unique opportunity to share your idea with the local community at the Pitch for Good Parramatta live event, happening on Thursday 5th September 2024 at the beautifully restored Parramatta Town Hall.

This fun and lively event allows you to pitch your idea to the audience, and each audience member donates the value of their event ticket to a project or projects of their choice, which is then matched by the City of Parramatta. These funds are then included as a kickstart to your crowdfunding campaign on StartSomeGood which have, on average, gone on to raise another 400% online.
