The training program will run from October 1-31 and will include a crowdfunding masterclass with StartSomeGood CEO Tom Dawkins, training in social media promotion and a weekly group coaching call (which will continue through the crowdfunding campaigns). 

You will also receive personalised feedback and support from the StartSomeGood Support Team during the development of your campaign.

Crowdfunding is a significant commitment so think carefully before applying for this opportunity! You will receive a lot of training and support but the campaign won’t run itself – you need to be ready to do that.

To get you off to a great start each project will receive $1,000 from the City of Parramatta towards their crowdfunding goals, with an additional $3,000 available for achieving supporter milestones.

This program will help launch 5 community projects through crowdfunding campaigns on StartSomeGood.

COVID-19 has presented many challenges, but we are looking for ideas to build back better to create lasting positive change or which bring people together to solve a community problem or build on a community strength.

You will receive expert training in how to pitch your ideas including a masterclass in crowdfunding and social media outreach. 

Even better, the City of Parramatta will be giving each campaign $1,000 to kickstart your crowdfunding campaign.

What Kind of Parramatta Do You Want to Create?

This is a chance to create a positive impact for our community

Criteria and Timeline
  1. The Project must demonstrate how it will create positive social change for residents, other people (visitors, workers) and/or organisations/groups within the City of Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA – see map below); 

  2. You must be a not-for-profit organisation, community group or social enterprise based in the City of Parramatta LGA; 

  3. Your project can related to a new idea or a fresh approach to an established activity; 

  4. You must be committed, if selected, to running an energetic Crowdfunding campaign; 

  5. Applicants must be committed to sharing the learnings and outcomes of their project with Council; 

  6. Projects should have a total fundraising goal of between $5,000 and $15,000 to be realised.
General Eligibility:
Assessment Criteria:
  1. The extent to which the project demonstrates how it will create a positive impact within the City of Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA);

  2. Evidence that the project is ready to be established if successful in your crowdfunding campaign, including evidence that you and your team have the necessary skills and experience to make it work; 

  3. The viability and attractiveness of ideas for the crowdfunding campaign and evidence of commitment to running a strong crowdfunding campaign, including details of networks that will be targeted to contribute; 

  4. Achievability of the project objectives; 

  5. Extent to which the target group has been engaged in the project development and that you have relevant partners on-board and supportive.
